In St. Tammany, the Sheriff’s office is currently investigating the burglary of more than 60 individual units within two separate facilities. On April 25, 27 units were burglarized at a facility on Brownswitch Road in the Slidell area. On June 25, 36 more units were burglarized at another storage facility on Louisiana Highway 59 near Abita Springs.
Items stolen include guns, tools and other household items. On the night of the Abita Springs burglaries, two vehicles were stolen from a nearby industrial park (a late model maroon Ford F-350 pickup truck and a 2003 white Econoline 150 van). It is believed the vehicles were stolen by the same individuals involved in the mini storage incidents.
